Risen Launches 500W All-Black Solar Panel With 40-Year Warranty

Risen launches a 500W all-black solar panel with a 40-year warranty, featuring a modern Australian home with a roof covered in black solar panels, a coastal skyline, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and lush greenery, with CleanSwitch’s signature deep navy blue and bright green headline against a blue sky and a soft white fade on the left.

Australian homeowners can now consider an all-black solar panel with a 40-year product and power warranty, after Risen Energy introduced its new RSM90 heterojunction (HJT) module for Australian and New Zealand rooftops.

The RSM90-8-460-500HDGB delivers up to 500 watts of power and 23.5% efficiency. Risen says the module combines its HJT cell technology with an all-black design aimed at homeowners who want solar panels that blend into their roofs.

The launch gives Australian installers another premium rooftop option, with a warranty period that extends well beyond the 25-year product cover common in the solar market.

However, the 40-year warranty applies under specific conditions, including eligible rooftop installations in Australia and New Zealand after 15 October 2026.

Risen’s All-Black Solar Panel Targets Limited Roof Space

The RSM90 is designed for residential rooftops, where available space can limit how much solar a household can install.

Each module contains 90 n-type HJT cells and measures 1,952mm by 1,090mm by 30mm. It weighs 24kg and is available in power ratings from 460W to 500W.

Risen says the module’s all-black cells, encapsulation and black anodised frame create a more uniform appearance than panels with visible silver lines.

The panel also uses a bifacial dual-glass design, which can capture some light from the rear side. Its bifacial factor is rated at 90% ±5%, although actual rear-side gains depend on installation height, tilt and the surface beneath the panels.

The module’s maximum efficiency is 23.5%, while its power temperature coefficient is -0.24% per degree Celsius. This means its output falls less as the panel heats up than it would with a less favourable temperature coefficient.

What the 40-Year Solar Panel Warranty Covers

The RSM90’s warranty is the most notable part of the launch.

Risen says eligible Australian and New Zealand rooftop installations receive a 40-year product warranty and a 40-year linear power warranty.

The cover is structured in two stages:

  • Product warranty: 25 years, with a 15-year free extension.
  • Linear power warranty: 30 years, with a 10-year free extension.

The power warranty allows for 1% degradation in the first year and 0.3% annually after that. Risen says the module is guaranteed to retain 87.3% of its rated power at year 40.

The warranty applies to RSM90 modules first installed on Australian and New Zealand rooftops after 15 October 2026. Homeowners should check the full warranty terms with their installer before purchasing, including the conditions that apply to the extensions.

HJT Technology Designed for Australian Conditions

The RSM90 uses heterojunction technology, which combines crystalline silicon with thin layers of amorphous silicon to improve the solar cell’s ability to convert light into electricity.

Risen says the module’s low temperature coefficient and response to low-light conditions are suited to rooftop applications.

The panel is designed to keep generating electricity during overcast conditions and in the early morning and late afternoon. Its dual-glass construction and bifacial design also allow it to capture light reflected onto the rear side.

These features may help households make better use of limited roof space, but the actual electricity a system produces will still depend on roof orientation, shading, weather and installation quality.

What the New Panel Means for Australian Homeowners

The RSM90 gives homeowners another option if they want a high-output solar panel with an all-black appearance and a long warranty.

The maximum 500W output and 23.5% efficiency could make the module worth considering for roofs where space is limited. However, the product’s actual value will depend on its installed price, the size of the system and how much electricity the household uses during daylight hours.

Risen has not published a retail price in its announcement. Homeowners should ask installers about product availability, system costs and the warranty conditions before making a decision.

The launch also highlights a growing focus on long-term product performance. A 40-year warranty may offer additional reassurance, but it does not remove the need to compare the complete solar system, including the inverter, installation, maintenance and any battery storage.

CleanSwitch Take: What We Think

The RSM90 gives Australian homeowners another high-output solar panel option, but the 40-year warranty is what makes this launch stand out. A longer warranty could offer reassurance to households planning to keep their solar system for decades, provided they understand the coverage, conditions and free extensions.

The all-black design and 500W output may also appeal to homeowners with limited roof space or a preference for a more uniform appearance. Still, the panel’s value will depend on its installed price, roof conditions and how well it performs as part of the complete solar system.

Our team at CleanSwitch will continue following this product and keep you informed as Australian availability and pricing become clearer.
